Stepping in The Right Direction (STRD) is an organization that started in 2009 to provide programming, educational resources and opportunities for African American youth and communities. The organization was founded out of the need to address racial inequities and disparities that impact the African American community. Our organization is unique because we place emphasis on advancing the whole child from parent engagement, culturally relevant educator professional development, and critical conscious community outreach.STRD addresses the academic and social-emotional needs of the Black student in our current climate through the implementation of the workshop and mentoring series for young men and women. Through our multiple programs, we engage the needs of the youth with empowering workshops to develop self-esteem, study habits, and mental health wellness practices while building a sense of community and improving knowledge of the richness and depth of their history.
STRD also has an amazing creative team that can provide custom programs and product creation for any school or organization.
Through these programs, students develop a voice through which they better learn to advocate for themselves and resolve issues internally.
